Enhancing capacity building for promoting environmental justice Programme in AfricaTraining on Environmental Law: A 4-day training for government officials will and civil society organisations took place in Benin in June 2011. The training workshop brought together more than 40 participants from Benin to share and expand their knowledge of national and international environmental law. The innovation of this programme is the explicit way in which links are made between the environment, Sustainable development and environmental justice in the Africa. The workshop contributed to increase skills and confidence to: i) take steps to educate people and communities on their rights; ii) help people and communities understand environment laws relevant to their circumstances; and iii) help people and communities understand how to use the law to their own benefit.
