They negotiate the terms of reference and job outcomes with the organization and these will form the basis for the learning agreement. The specific goals and outcomes to be attained are determined so they are of mutual benefit to both the organization and the student.

The experience gained with internship organizations is normally invaluable in helping students and volunteers to define their career goals. It provides an opportunity to compare principles with practice and enables participants to increase their experience. Work placement experience will enhance student’s academic studies with professional development opportunities. The programme also helps them to understand the complexity, challenges, and constraints with regard to Third World Sustainable Development.

Application requirements

Participants are advised to apply four weeks in advance so that a well-structured internship can be organized. You will need to pay administration fee that will enable us to process your application and organising contacts with potential host organizations. You will also need to provide a CV, references and two passport size photographs. All this must be sent to us with a covering letter explaining your interests in and expectations from your work placement. You must precise your preferred country and language.

You are expected to meet your all living and travel expenses. After we receive these materials, we will interview you on the phone about your goals and interests. Then we will begin working with our partners in your chosen country to find the right internship or voluntary work placement for you. Typically, placement is made within 6 weeks months from the time the completed application is received.

Benefits to Students and volunteers:

  • Increased understanding of the host country, its language, and socio-economic development and environmental challenges
  • Opportunities for a career-enhancing experience, which allows students and volunteers to gain new perspectives and be exposed to new working environments and share professional expertise
  • Opportunities to develop lifelong friendships and professional relationships with African colleagues
  • Opportunities for increased awareness of the diversity of ideas, values, worldviews, and ways of life.

We can advise students on all the options, and will help them find an organization which best suits their needs and interests.
